Description:

This small fruit tree with a rounded shape belongs to the Rutaceae family. It flowers twice a year, in April-May and September-October. The pure white flowers are very sweet-smelling. The skin of the fruit is thick and its juice is acid and very bitter. The orange tree is the only tree to bear leaves, flowers and fruits at the same time.

Traditions:

Distillation of the flower produces an essential oil called neroli, widely used for its delicate perfume. Orange flower water ensures a peaceful sleep and can even be used to calm a baby. It also has culinary uses.
