Description:

The ivy belongs to the Araliaceae family. Originating from Europe and western Asia, it is a vine which forms rambling or climbing stems of indefinite size. Exceptionally long-lived, some centuries-old ivy plants have been found.

Traditions:

In Egyptian mythology, the ivy is the plant of Osiris, the god who was the protector of the dead. It therefore represents immortality. Also the symbol of fidelity, a woman would offer an ivy leaf to signal acceptance of a man’s marriage proposal. Possessing many medicinal properties, this plant formed part of the Druid pharmacopoeia.

Properties:

Ivy extract has vasoconstricting and regenerating properties; its use promotes the microcirculation. It therefore helps to combat under-eye circles and puffiness.
