Arnica - Arnica montana

Arnica montana

Belonging to the Asteraceae family, arnica is a perennial herbaceous plant originating from the mountainous areas of southern Europe and Russia. Crushing the fresh flowers releases a strong odour which may trigger sneezing.

In the past arnica was used for many external and internal applications, in particular to treat heart and respiratory problems. It forms part of the French Pharmacopoeia, and it can be found today in some homeopathic preparations. It helps combat muscular pains and rheumatism.

Arnica extract comes from the flowers. Its application to the skin stimulates the microcirculation and the immune system. Arnica is particularly suited to dehydrated and chapped skins since it has restorative properties.
