Macadamia - Macadamia ternifolia

Macadamia ternifolia

The macadamia is a tree of 15 m in height classed in the Proteaceae family. Originating from Australia, it is also cultivated in Hawaii, where it is perfectly acclimatised. The fruit, or nut, is covered with a very resistant shell and contains one kernel.

The macadamia nut was discovered by the Aborigines more than 500 years ago. Planted in Hawaii as an ornamental tree, its nuts are roasted to be consumed as an aperitif. Their taste and smell are similar to those of hazelnuts.

Macadamia nut oil is extracted by mechanical pressing. An excellent skin conditioner, it regenerates and strengthens the lipid barrier and improves its hydration. It is also used to nourish the hair.
